HIghlights 2009 Mariachi Tesoro performed in 2009 at Disneyland and at Kennedy Park in Tucson, AZ, for La fiesta del Cinco de Mayo, and the de Grazia Gallery in Tucson, among many other performances at weddings, private parties, conferences, and other gatherings.
December
December started off with a bang! In the second weekend, Mariachi Tesoro had six tocadas (Performances), two on Sunday at the De Grazia Gallery in honor of El Dia de la Virgen Guadalupe, and 4 on Saturday, including the Tamale Festival at El Casino of the Sun! Thanks for having us Tucson!
Mariachi Tesoro and Tesoro families enjoyed meeting and listening to the players of another local youth group, The Tucson Jazz Institute's Ellington Big Band! at the De Grazia Gallery on Sunday. They were terrific! And, special thanks to Ellington's players who stayed to watch Tesoro's performance!
November 2009
Mariachi Tesoro had an adventurous month! They traveled to Las Cruces, New Mexico, to attend the Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference. Meeting other mariachis from around the US and Mexico was awesome, and Tesoro musicians received helpful and constructive criticism as well as praise for their particiaption and performance. The musicians and families had a blast! Tesoro was one of five groups to perform in the Student Showcase.

Mariachi Tesoro de Tucson recently performed (September 12, 2009) on the Access Cable program, Connecting Cultures. After seeing Mariachi Tesoro play at the de Grazia Gallery for the commemoration of the Artist and the exhibition 100 works in 100 years, Connecting Cultures Host Eddie Rodriguez invited Mariachi Tesoro to play on his show.
The group performed for roughly a half hour and had the happy experience of being introduced to intereting and beautiful music in other cultural traditions. The musicians, parents and families had a fun time and Mr. Rodriguez was a gracious and encouraging host.
Connecting Cultures has made avaialble to Marichi Tesoro a copy of the DVD of the program. Mr. Rodriguez has given his permission* to post the DVD to this site or YouTube. As soon as we can, we will post those clips here.
